We met how most people these days meet one another, on the internet. A dating app called Hinge to be more specific. While Laura had her selection radius set for 5 miles, I had mine set for 25 miles. Let’s just say I’m happy I lived less than a mile from her. After a week of texting, I asked Laura out on our first date. Not knowing the area very well, I coincidentally picked the restaurant directly across the street from Laura’s apartment. After several hours, a few cocktails, and a lot of laughter I drove Laura the 100 yards back to her door, and I barely made it home before we made plans to see each other again 2 nights later. We went on 4 dates that first week and we’ve seen each other every day since. I knew things were getting serious when after only 3 weeks she invited me to meet her family at the Houston Rodeo.

Early into dating, Laura introducing me to the incredible world of antique and vintage goods at Round Top and Antique Stores (or as we say Going Teekin’), while I had the pleasure of teaching Laura how to play golf. She can really dress the part and is an excellent golf cart driver! We took several cooking classes at Sur La Table and had a blast, but we have yet to figure out how to put our new skills to good use.  

Laura is the sweetest, kindest, and most thoughtful person I have ever met. She brings out the joy and happiness in everything that we do. The passion and love that she has for the people she cares about is truly awe inspiring and one of my favorite qualities she possesses. She is my best friend, and it didn’t take very long for me to know that we were meant to be together for the rest of our lives.

The best day of my life was on November 25, 2023 when I proposed to Laura at her Aunt and Uncle’s Lake house in Athens, TX. We walked out onto the dock where I dropped down to one knee and asked Laura to marry me. We are unbelievably grateful for all the love and support that we have received from all our family and friends. We can’t wait to share all our joy and happiness with you all in June.
